I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying all the wonders and adventures of summer. At Napa Private Tours we have been extra busy and honored to host numerous VIPs from all over the world. As time allows as promised we have been heading to the city to scout wonderful BYOB restaurants. This week I want to share with you three more restaurants and their pairings hand-picked by yours truly.
Mission Chinese Food
Tasty, tasty. This is not a luxury joint by any means but the food is to die for and there are no corkage fees. Just what the doctor ordered in a cold San Francisco day. Try their beer brine pickles or the tea smoked eel. This is the hot place in town don’t come in with a party larger than eight and be ready to dine shoulder to shoulder. you can check out their website here. Talk about minimalist design. There is an NY location but I could not confirm if BYOB is an option. Sorry Manhattan friends. The Napa Private Tours team selected these wines to pair with your amazing but casual Chinese small plates:
2012 Viognier from Whetstone Winery
Pakwan Restaurant
You will totally appreciate our daring character and willingness to go off the beaten path. We found this culinary gem and could not wait to share it. The sweet fragrance of Saffron overtakes you when you walk in the door. A marvelous spot to take your favorite vegetarian friend without having to sacrifice your own foodie pleasures. We adore their curries and can’t say enough about their Taandori dishes. Small, authentic often full of life and short on tables this definitively a keeper. We think these Napa wines are the right ones to bring along:
Darioush Shiraz
Darioush Duel 2011
Notice a theme?
If you are interested in touring Darioush winery make sure you mention it to your wine concierge during the planning stage of your private tour to Napa.
Nopa SF
My troops and I waited three hours to secure a table at Nopa. It was absolutely worth every minute of waiting. We were seduced by the balanced and creative cuisine and had nothing but good things to say about this wonderful gastronomical destination. This beauty has one of the most delectable wine collection and yes there is a corkage fee but it can be waived on a one-to-one model. For each bottle you buy in-house they will waive your corkage for another. Their smoked trout quinoa was an “I have died and gone to heaven” experience. They offer a roasted chicken with haogen melon and cucumbers that will melt in your mouth. We also fell in love with their pork chops. As for our wine pairings we selected this:
If you are starting your wine tour with a San Francisco pickup and would like to finish your day at one of these wonderful venues just let us know. We will take care of the reservations and make sure you have the right wine pairings. Until next time when I will try to bring you another collection of awesome BYOBs to add to your foodie bucket list.
Cheers!
